I hope you have been enjoying The Tenets in the Tattoos!
Book 2 is coming along nicely and follows on about a month after Tenets. Flush with victory, Thorrn has been swaggering around the castle, much to his soul companion Evyn’s eye-rolling. But she has been settling into the library and started to enjoy living between Earth and Oberrot, although she never quite fits into either world.
That is, until Thorrn’s hubris brings disaster on them both.
My head rung like the call-to-arms bell.
“I don’t want to have to do this. I want you to know this is breaking me inside.” King Gough gazed sadly at me, the crevasses in his downturned face deeper and darker. But that could have been a result of the spots of light sparking in my vision.
“Then don’t!” Evyn blurted, eyes bright with tears.
“He has to be fair, Evyn. He has to apply justice across everyone equally,” Rose murmured, holding her daughter’s hand tight.
Evyn pulled her hand free of her mother’s, grasping onto mine.
I couldn’t hold hers back. I couldn’t feel anything, I couldn’t breathe.
Gough turned away from me.
